The Owner will continue to be responsible for paying for regular maintenance on the car (ex: oil changes, tires, servicing, air filter replacement, light bulb replacement, etc) and repairs if the car has problems. The Driver (or Possessor in legal speak) is responsible for having regular maintenance performed and will submit copies of invoices to DriveOn to be billed to the Owner.
Put simply: you cover maintenance and repairs for the car you own. If something breaks or has issues stemming from negligence or recklessness by the Driver (Possessor) then he/she is responsible for repair costs.
And don't worry - if there are any disputes the DriveOn Trust and Safety Team has your back.
As the Driver, when service or maintenance is due, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org within one week and let us know. We will seek approval from the Owner and will get back to you on whether or not the Owner thinks all necessary service issues need to be performed. It will then be your responsibility to have them performed in a timely fashion. Please send us copies of invoices/bills/receipts and we will bill the Owner and reimburse you for those regular maintenance charges.
Here is a list of common items for which the Driver is responsible; both logistically and financially:
- regular car washes
- regular upkeep of the vehicle interior (ex: applying leather conditioner to the leather seats)
- keeping the tires inflated to manufacturer's specifications listed in the owner's manual
- using the proper gasoline as indicated in the owner's manual
